“For me, painting is a journey to unexpected places. Places of color, places of humour and places of joy.”

 

Stecker studied at Michigan State University where he received a B.S. in Economics and a Minor in Fine Arts. Following graduate work at the Art Institute of Chicago, he entered into a a career in Graphic Design, Art Direction and Advertising until the mid-nineties when he left to paint “full time”.

 

His work has been represented by Belloc Loundes Fine Art Gallery, the Anam Art Gallery and the Chicago Art Source. He has been published in The Chicago Art Scene, Art Direction and American Artist Magazine and has won numerous awards at the Venice, Sarasota and the Longboat Key Art Centers. His work encompasses both abstract and figurative modes.
